Frequently Asked Questions

Are these routes accurate?

Yes. Sort of. The examiner will likely vary the routes slightly depending on various things like road conditions and whatever manoeuvres they may have the candidate carry out whilst on the test. They may divert into side streets or certain car parks. Broadly speaking, the routes are accurate.

Are all the routes here?

No, this is not all the routes. All the routes here are a very good overall representation of the roads that you might be taken on during a Livingston test centre driving test.

Is it OK to go into the test centre?

Absolutely not. Various tests (not just cars) can be coming and going throughout the day. It is of paramount importance that these tests are not interfered with or impacted by anyone.

What are these red 'Caution' symbols?

The 'Caution' symbols are there to highlight particular points on routes which may cause a candidate some extra difficulty. Each 'Caution' symbol has some notes as to why it may be difficult.

What are all these letters on the route maps?

The letters on the routes are of no significance. They are only there as waypoints to ensure the routes are accurately represented.

Livingston Driving Test Car Parks

These car parks can be used on tests for front bay park and reverse bay park. They're all worth a visit to familiarise a potential candidate. Try and find at least 3 clear spaces and use the middle one. It'll make you look good and less chance of bad outcomes. It is also worthwhile to practice into single spaces.

Livingston Driving Test Pull-up Locations

Each test will have a number of pull-ups. This is not an exhaustive map of where these locations are, but they'll certainly give you a flavour. Remember, the pull-up is usually the easy part. It is the pull-away that is among the top 3 reasons that a driving test is failed. The goal is to make effective observations and rejoin the traffic without impacting other road users. Signals should be used appropriately.
